The Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) project is a European initiative designed to support companies that want to invest in the health and wellbeing of employees. The Feralpi Group was among the first to join the Lombardy WHP network in October 2013.

The WHP project from Europe to local institutions

In Italy the community origins of Workplace Health Promotion is reflected in the national LHA network and the partnership with The General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria).

Lombardy Regional Government has produced a WHP manual through its own WHP network, providing companies with a list of best practices to help them implement health promotion actions internally.

Focus areas

The areas concerned deal with numerous aspects:

  • Healthy diet
  • Physical activity
  • Combating smoking
  • Combating addiction
  • Action across all areas
  • Other practices (Work-life balance, welfare, corporate social responsibility, adhesion to preventive health behaviour)

Lombardy LHA certification

The system to endorse companies that promote health must be viewed as a continually evolving process. The repertoire of good practice is regularly updated and extended, inserting new actions with the chance for companies also to enhance activities already being implemented, provided they are based on effective specifications.

All of the Group's companies that have adopted the WHP project obtained this certification in 2021, namely Feralpi Holding, Feralpi Siderurgica, Acciaierie di Calvisano and Nuova Defim Orsogril.
