We aim for carbon neutrality by 2050. For the fight against climate change, we have defined objectives and drawn up a strategic plan with significant extraordinary investments and concrete actions.

We aim to lead the steel industry in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, making a crucial contribution to the fight against climate change.

Since 2018, we have reduced our direct emissions (Scope 1) and those generated from the energy we purchase (Scope 2) by over 12%, but this is just the beginning of a journey that will lead us to carbon neutrality by 2050.

To achieve this ambitious goal, we have set intermediate objectives in line with international agreements and plan to implement significant investments, direct actions, and initiatives to incentivize other agents of change.

In July 2024, the SBTi approved our 2030 targets for CO2 emission reductions. Specifically, we are committed to reducing our scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions within the core boundary of the sector guidelines for iron and steel by 50% per ton of hot-rolled steel by 2030 (compared to 2022).

We are also committed to reducing the remaining scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from the purchase of goods and services, activities related to fuel and energy, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, and processing of sold products by 25% by 2030 (compared to 2022).

Our carbon footprint and actions of climate transition plan

Throughout 2023, we completed the process of analysing and identifying emissions associated with our operations and drafted a climate transition plan.
