The dual work-education scheme was set up in 2014 for pupils in the two upper years of higher secondary schools.

The course lasts several weeks, and provides an experience that combines the customary work shadowing in the field with classroom-based teaching amounting to 110 hours, delivered by company specialists and technicians, service providers and technological partners.

This type of course enables students to gain a basic understanding of the steel industry and develop their communication and interpersonal skills.

The continuity established is a good opportunity for the company and future technicians to strengthen mutual understanding. The course has training modules on technical aspects specific to the steel industry, lessons on developing soft skills (e.g., communication and teamwork) and sessions on health and safety in the workplace.

Over the years the initiative has become an opportunity for Feralpi personnel to engage with young people in the area, and an important factor for mutual growth.
